SCORE
What is SCORE?
How Do You Get Free Counseling?
In 1953, Congress formed the United States Small Business Administration (SBA) to help Americans start, build, and grow businesses. Two years later, in 1966, the Cedar Rapids Chapter of SCORE came into existence. As "Counselors to America’s Small Business," the volunteer SCORE experts complemented the SBA.
If you have an idea, invention, or skill that you want to transform into a thriving business, you can visit the SCORE office to get free, confidential counseling to determine the first steps you must take to achieve that dream. The SCORE office is open on weekdays from 10 am to 3 pm, and no appointment is necessary.
A counselor can help you prepare a business plan, develop a marketing plan, apply for a business loan, or review your cash flow. SCORE counselors advise both new and existing businesses. Their services are free.
